When the company was founded it provided computing systems for the South African Airforce. Since its inception, Etion continually moved into new areas of expertise. They expanded their computing systems to the railroad industry in 1998, providing live tracking systems for rail transport companies. In 2010, Etion expanded to the mining industry, where they provided mines with real-time monitoring solutions to track production. In 2013 the company acquired Tedaka Technologies and has since merged Tedaka with Redline Telecommunications SA to form the wholly owned subsidiary company known as Tedaka Network Solutions. Tedaka provides networking solutions, from the installation of fibre internet to the setup of networks.
