Impala Shares Growth Driver

  • IMPLATS did not simply become the second largest producer of PGMs and platinum in the world because it is conveniently located close to the Bushveld Complex and the Great Dyke. Creating value from mining takes a great deal of vision, planning and hours of hard work. The company has teams of dedicated workers to keep the gears turning. They believe that by empowering their employees through development programmes they will continue to see growth. IMPLATS employs roughly 52,000 people over all of their operations and they see these employees as valuable assets that need to well cared for. The company strives to become the world leader in platinum production through safely mining, processing, refining and distributing their product in a sustainable fashion.

  • The company keeps abreast of mining legislation to ensure that they will retain the mining rights on their current reserves, which add up to a bit more than 191 million platinum ounces. On top of that, IMPLATS ensures that their mining operations are safe and secure. Looking to the future, the company diligently upgrades mining and refining methods to keep up with advances in technology. IMPLATS keeps on creating value through strategically planning how to manage their funds and assets.

  • Since 2007, IMPLATS have invested R4.1billion in the communities around their mining operations, through upgrading housing and infrastructure. The company is dedicated to mining sustainably, to create wealth for future generations.

Impala Group Investor Tip

  • Platinum is mainly used in catalytic converters for the motor industry, but it also has uses in the chemical industry and on the jewellery market. Some of the other major PGM elements such as palladium and rhodium are also used in catalytic converters, so if you prefer not to use platinum, IMPLATS can supply you with substitution elements as well. Even though there is a general movement to try to get away from using platinum as catalytic converter in the motor vehicle industry, there is still no real new solution. So for the foreseeable future, platinum will stay in high demand.
